Toni Rottensteiner: From small-scale sales to the premium segment

Today, South Tyrolean wine is associated with high quality, a spirit of innovation and functioning small structures. The way there was shaped by personalities with a pioneering spirit and their vision to produce wines of world renown in the unique South Tyrolean landscape. The Consortium Südtirol Wein dedicates its own film series to these character heads of South Tyrolean viticulture and we are very proud that our senior chef Toni was also selected for this.

Toni Rottensteiner is a passionate winemaker and one of the great ambassadors of South Tyrolean wine. For over sixty years he managed the family winery in Bolzano. As a long-time board member of the Consorzio Santa Maddalena, and as one of the most profound tasters in the country, he has helped shape the quality offensive of winemaking in South Tyrol. Grounded and modest, he tells how the work in the vineyard has developed during his 65 harvests.
